New England Patriots receiver A.J. Brown made his first catch of the 2026 NFL season in the opening quarter of Wednesday night’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field.
Brown hauled in a pass from Patriots star quarterback Drake Maye with 3:20 left in the first quarter as New England looked to establish an early rhythm through the air against Seattle’s defense. The reception was Brown’s first in a Patriots uniform.
The star veteran wide receiver entered the season opener as New England’s most prominent offseason addition. His presence gave Maye a proven target on the outside and added another dimension to a Patriots passing attack that is expected to be a catalyst for a potential Super Bowl run at the end of the season.
However, Brown
went down with an ankle injury in the third quarter. The Patriots will now hold their breath in hopes that it isn't anything serious that might potentially keep the three-time All-Pro wideout sidelined for a significant length of time.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel did not have an immediate update on Brown's health status after the game.
"I don't have any update yet," Vrabel said after the game, via Patriots Wire's Sophie Weller. "Wasn't able to return, obviously."
