New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel gave an update on Gabe Jacas’ status on the first day of training camp with the full team present.
Speaking before the media at a press conference on Friday, Vrabel stated that the team is still negotiating a deal with Jacas, who remains unsigned as training camp takes shape.
“We’re continuing to work through the contract,” Vrabel said. “I think that those have been positive, obviously, between the club and his representative. And hopefully, we’ll get him in here sooner rather than later.”
The Patriots selected Jacas with the No. 55 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. He has dealt with a knee injury this offseason and is one of a few rookies in the NFL who have yet to sign their rookie deal this summer.

rookies were required to report for training camp on Tuesday. Jacas has been away from the team while working out his deal. He will get the chance to solidify his role as a featured backup edge rusher behind Harold Landry and Dre’Mont Jones if he agrees with the franchise on a deal this summer.
