The New England Patriots announced a series of moves on Tuesday, including re-signing safety Elliott Davison to the practice squad and releasing tight end Shane Zylstra.
Davison signed to the Patriots' practice squad on September 3. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the New Orleans Saints in 2025. The former UTSA defensive back spent the 2025 season on the Saints' practice squad and remained with them throughout training camp this year.
However, he was released as part of the wave of roster cuts on August 30.
Zylstra also entered the NFL as a rookie free agent back in 2021. He has spent time with the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills before landing in New England on September 2. He has played
in 35 games and recorded 18 receptions for 136 yards.
The Patriots are set at safety on the main roster with Kevin Byard and Craig Woodson serving as the top options. Dell Pettus and Jaylen Reed are serving as the top reserve options. Davis gives the Patriots another young prospect to develop behind the scenes as a potential future call-up.
