ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter is not sure whether New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown will play or not in Sunday's game against the New York Jets. However, if he had to guess, Schefter said he was leaning toward Brown returning this week.
“I think I've been saying to you guys for a while that A.J. Brown was doing well, and I haven't heard anything different," Schefter said on Rich and Ken with Ted Johnson. "Now, I don't know that that's gonna be enough to get him active on Sunday. Well, my guess would be it is, but look, he's not far away if he doesn't play this week. And I think there's a chance he's gonna play this week.”
Brown has missed the last four weeks after suffering a high ankle sprain in the season opener against the Seattle
Seahawks.
The Patriots will have a short week after their Week 6 matchup against the Jets. They'll head on the road for a Thursday Night Football clash with the Chicago Bears next week. So it remains to be seen whether the Patriots will consider playing Brown in both games or skip Sunday's game out of caution.
The Patriots' offense has found its groove in recent weeks, following impressive wins over the Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders. It only adds to the excitement around how good they could potentially be with Brown eventually added to the mix.
