New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel spoke highly of defensive tackle Milton Williams following the team’s Week 6 win over the New York Jets.
Williams recently attracted attention after joking about Vrabel talking smack to him prior to the game against the Jets for having yet to pick up a sack on the year. Williams’ comments went viral and prompted Vrabel to respond.
According to Patriots Wire’s Sophie Weller, Vrabel commended Williams for the leadership, effort and disruptive presence that he has consistently showed, not only in Week 6, but throughout the early part of the year so far.
“Oh, I say that all the time, not just on the sidelines. This is part of coming to work and trying to have a connection with these guys,” Vrabel said. “I appreciate
what Milt does — his leadership, his efforts and his impact.”
Williams’ contributions have extended beyond traditional statistics this season, which has highlighted his ability to disrupt opposing offenses and play with consistent intensity.
He recorded his first sack and tackle for loss of the season against the Jets, and also registered a quarterback hit in Week 6. The season-high performance from Williams stood out, as his aggressiveness had a great impact on the game.
The Patriots will turn their attention to their next matchup against the Chicago Bears in Week 7, as they look to build on their Week 6 performance. Williams and the Patriots will aim to maintain their defensive momentum and continue improving as the season progresses.
