New England Patriots wide receiver Romeo Doubs had the best game of his Patriots career on Sunday afternoon. He caught two touchdowns in the first half and was instrumental in keeping the Patriots in lockstep with the Buffalo Bills.
The wide receiver had six catches for 58 yards and two touchdowns in the AFC East divisional showdown.
That breakout performance for Doubs couldn't have come at a better time. The Patriots were down on their luck after getting blown out by the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3. They were the underdogs heading into Highmark Stadium for an expected buzz saw game against the Bills.
But Doubs stepped up and showed fight in another game that the Patriots played without their No. 1 receiver, A.J. Brown. The veteran Doubs developed
into the go-to option that Patriots quarterback Drake Maye needed to steal a big win on the road.

The Patriots have been waiting for Doubs to break out on a level like this.
Granted, it isn't perfect by any stretch. Doubs dropped a pass that turned into an interception, and he dropped another potential deep shot from Maye that was on the money. But he made the big plays when they needed to be made to win the game.
That's progress.
