The New England Patriots hosted defensive ends Victor Dimukeje and Eric Watts for free-agent tryouts, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, as the team explores potential additions for its defensive unit.
Dimukeje most recently played for the New York Giants in 2025, appearing in five games and recording three tackles along with a pass breakup. His most productive NFL season came with the Arizona Cardinals in 2023. He had a career year in 2023 with the Cardinals, having started in six of 16 games played and recorded four sacks, eight quarterback hits, five tackles for loss and a forced fumble that season.
Watts spent the 2025 season with the New York Jets, appearing in four games with one start. He totaled ten total tackles, including six solo tackles last
season. For his NFL career, Watts has played in 18 games with one start and has recorded 23 total tackles.
The Patriots are dealing with multiple injuries at the edge rusher slot, including veteran Harold Landry, Dre'Mont Jones and rookie Quintayvious Hutchins. It calls for more depth on the team as New England looks to climb out of the 1-2 hole that they’re currently in to begin the year.
