The New England Patriots' defense came away with timely stops and takeaways to secure a 29-26 victory over the Buffalo Bills in Week 4. Although Buffalo was aggressive and found the end zone multiple times, New England prevented the Bills from taking control down the stretch.
Buffalo produced 253 passing yards and one passing touchdown in the game while gaining 91 yards on the ground. The Bills added two rushing touchdowns, but the Patriots limited their overall scoring chances enough to protect the narrow margin.
New England’s defense came away with two turnovers — an interception at the hands of Craig Woodson and a forced fumble. The Patriots held the Bills to 2-of-4 on red-zone attempts.
Elijah Ponder led the way for the Patriots on defense
with a sack, tackle for loss and two quarterback hits. His consistent pressure helped the Patriots create disruption that was needed to secure the road win. Rookie edge rusher Gabe Jacas continued to play well while the defense as a whole did its part to prevent the high-octane Bills offense from taking over the game.
