New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry is admittedly feeling the same way as most fans about the Christian Gonzalez contract situation.
When appearing on WEEI's Jones & Keefe, he was asked to give a number on a scale of 1-85 of how surprised he is that Gonzalez has yet to receive a contract extension.
"Let's say 60," Henry admitted. "I was surprised."
The Patriots and Gonzalez have continued to talk behind the scenes, but the negotiations threaten to bleed into the regular season, with the opener against the Seattle Seahawks only eight days away. Gonzalez is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, and the Patriots have depth issues at the position.
He isn't a player they can afford to lose at this juncture.

There is still hope that the two sides can come to an agreement in the final days before the start of the season.
The baseline has already been set with the Seattle Seahawks rewarding Devon Witherspoon with a four-year, $132 million contract extension. Gonzalez could be looking to reset the benchmark on those numbers, and he has the rare kind of talent that warrants his attempt to do so.
