The New England Patriots waived outside linebacker Bradyn Swinson on Sunday, according to the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed, after one season spent with the team.
Swinson was selected by the Patriots with the No. 146 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of LSU. He played in three games last season and recorded one tackle on the year. Swinson entered the offseason vying for a more prominent role in a Patriots’ defense that has seen significant upgrades made to its unit.
The Patriots' front office went in a different direction than Swinson, cutting down their roster ahead of Week 1 of next season. Swinson’s preseason production was not enough to garner a spot on the finalized roster.
The move came as NFL teams faced the 6 p.m. ET deadline Sunday to
reduce their rosters to 53 players. The 23-year-old Swinson will look to give another team a competent edge rusher for next season or land back on the Patriots' practice squad.
