The New England Patriots' offensive line is in shambles, and they need help fast. So, for this week’s Gimme Him, Buffalo Bills guard Alec Anderson would be the pick to help stabilize the Patriots' offensive line.
Anderson has the ability to play multiple positions on the line, including left guard, right tackle, left tackle, and center. Although his metrics are not the best, he could immediately help the Patriots' offensive line, where depth is key and injuries have taken their toll.
The team lost starting guard Mike Onwenu in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and then they lost their top backup, Greg Van Roten, in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Anderson would be a solid option to rotate in the mix with Ben Brown and Walter Rouse.
He could also serve as a backup tackle over Patriots rookie first-round draft pick Caleb Lomu.
In addition, Anderson is known as a physical run blocker. This would help the Patriots' offense immediately considering their run game ranks 14th in the NFL with an average of 109.3 rushing yards per game. They rank dead last in the NFL with one rushing touchdown this year.
Sure, the Bills have a ton of weapons that the Patriots could use. Running back James Cook and quarterback Josh Allen would be instant upgrades to what the Patriots have right now. However, it’s clear that they still believe in Drake Maye. He needs better protection on the offensive line, and Anderson could be the player to help.
