The New England Patriots were defeated by the Jacksonville Jaguars 35-6 in a game that was a disaster from the jump.
Quarterback Drake Maye had one of the worst games of his professional career. He threw for 199 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions. One interception came in the red zone, as the Patriots were looking to cut into the lead before halftime. That interception was the story of the day for the Patriots' offense, which could not get anything going.
With that said, the defense had a difficult day as well. After a solid showing against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, the unit struggled to get the Jaguars' offense off the field. One of the reasons for those struggles was their inability to conjure up a consistent pass rush. They
came into the game down both starting edge rushers, Harold Landry III and Dre'Mont Jones.
That put unbearable pressure on the secondary to hold up in coverage for longer periods of time. The Patriots had only one sack on the day as Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence picked them apart.
