The New England Patriots will have one of their most explosive weapons back on the field for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, with running back TreVeyon Henderson expected to return to the lineup.
Henderson got injured late in training camp after attempting a cut on the turf and going down with an ankle injury. Although he did make the trip to Lumen Field, that injury kept him sidelined for the Patriots' season opener against the Seattle Seahawks last week.
Henderson racked up 911 yards on 180 rushes for nine touchdowns in his rookie season last year. He also hauled in 35 catches for 221 yards and a touchdown.
His ability to serve as an extra receiver will especially be appealing to the Patriots with A.J. Brown sidelined for at least
four weeks with a high ankle sprain. Henderson could serve as an extra receiving target for Maye against the Steelers' aggressive defensive front.
With that said, he's also a strong change-of-pace rushing option behind Rhamondre Stevenson and a serious home run threat every time the ball is in his hands. Henderson was one of the Patriots' most explosive playmakers last season, and he'll have a chance to spark life back into the offense for the Week 2 matchup.
