New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye stressed a forward-thinking approach after suffering a 13-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1, saying the team has little choice but to learn quickly and move on.
According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss,
Maye stated on the “Rich and Ken with Ted Johnson” show that he and his teammates will need to shrug the loss off and be ready for next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.“We got another week, another chance in this league,” Maye said. “Dealing with the ups and downs in this league, that’s part of it — playing in the National Football League.”
Maye’s remarks come after the Patriots fell short in a narrow 13-10 loss to the Seahawks. He had a down performance, as did Romeo Doubs, and the team lost A.J.
Brown for at least the next four weeks with a high-ankle sprain. Maye helped the Patriots respond after early season losses in 2025, having led New England to a 14-3 record on the year.
New England now approaches its preparation for Week 2 with an opportunity to address issues from the opener and improve the execution. The entire unit has a week to refine their game plan and look to carry a more consistent performance into their next matchup against Pittsburgh.
