The New England Patriots are reportedly releasing running back Lan Larison, but they hope to bring him back on the team's practice squad, according to MassLive’s Mark Daniels.
Larison signed with the Patriots in May of last year, but he did not appear in a game for the team last season. Instead, he was placed on injured reserve after suffering an injury in the preseason.
The 24-year-old Larison had a good preseason this year. He went for 38 receiving yards on six receptions in the Patriots’ 13-13 tie against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, and then he rushed for 33 yards and a touchdown, while adding 41 receiving yards in New England’s 24-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2. He finished with five rushing yards in the Patriots’ 37-13
loss to the Cleveland Browns in the team’s final preseason game.
The Patriots move forward with a running back room led by Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson, with Larison now being a candidate to vie for a role in the offense in the event that he makes the practice squad.
