The New England Patriots' defense helped the team secure a big 45-17 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5.
They limited the Raiders to 306 total yards and forced a season-low scoring output from an offense that had been rolling through the first four weeks of the year.
Elijah Ponder was New England’s top performer, recording two sacks, two tackles for loss and three quarterback hits in the win. Leonard Taylor added a sack, tackle for loss and quarterback hit as well, while Charles Woods recorded two passes defensed on the day. The Patriots also held Las Vegas to just 38 rushing yards as a team.
New England allowed Kirk Cousins to throw for 243 passing yards and one touchdown. Brock Bowers recorded eight catches for 110 yards and a receiving
touchdown. Nevertheless, the Patriots were able to sack Cousins three times, while Jeanty was held to a substandard 27 rushing yards in the game, which led all Raiders ball-carriers.
