The New England Patriots defeated the New York Jets 26-19 in Week 6, and key defensive stops helped the team secure the victory.
The Patriots' defense played a decisive role in the win. Cornerback Charles Woods intercepted Jets quarterback Geno Smith in the fourth quarter, halting a potential scoring drive. Linebackers Christian Elliss and Robert Spillane stopped Braelon Allen from keeping a drive alive on fourth down in the second quarter with a key play against the run.
Also, rookie Gabe Jacas made a critical stop on a fourth-down quarterback sneak later in the quarter, helping New England preserve its lead during the final moments of the game.
Smith finished with 252 passing yards and a touchdown, and Jets rookie receiver Omar Cooper Jr. registered
103 receiving yards and one touchdown. However, New York’s offense was not able to overcome New England’s defense, and the Patriots did what was necessary to secure the victory.
