Jon Sumrall's debut campaign with Florida football continues its torrid start, having won the third straight game to start the season with a 44-39 victory over Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night.
After opening up the SEC schedule with a win for the first time since 2023, the Gators finally cracked the AP Top 25, landing at No. 21 — between No. 20 Oregon and No. 22 SMU — with 269 votes. This is also the first time the Orange and Blue have appeared among the top 25 in the poll since the 2025 preseason.
Florida is joined by nine fellow SEC schools in the rankings after Week 3, featuring top-ranked Texas and second-ranked Georgia, followed by Ole Miss (No. 4), Alabama (No. 8), LSU (No. 10), Tennessee (No. 14), Missouri (No. 19), Florida (No. 21),
Texas A&M (No. 23) and Mississippi State (No. 24). Kentucky landed at the de facto No. 27 spot with 98 votes, while Oklahoma was the only other SEC team on the ballot with 91 votes.
The Gators also made their way back into the US LBM Coaches Poll top 25 and now sit at No. 22, representing the highest spot this season in those rankings.
Next up, Florida returns home to host Ole Miss on Saturday, Sept. 26, inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on ABC.
