Florida football's Week 7 matchup against the Texas Longhorns in Austin will kick off at noon on Saturday, Oct. 17 and the game will be televised on ABC, the Southeastern Conference announced on Saturday.
The Gators have faced the Longhorns just five times on the collegiate gridiron dating back to 1924, with only one win against three losses and a tie. Florida's lone victory came last year in the Swamp, beating then-ninth-ranked Texas, 29-21, in one of the biggest triumphs of the Billy Napier era.
The Orange and Blue is coming off a bitter beating by South Carolina, 38-19, on homecoming weekend in a game the Gators were favored by double digits to win, making it two straight losses after starting the Jon Sumrall era with four straight wins. Florida
was also blown out on the road at Missouri, 45-17, for its first defeat of the season the week before.
Texas had been the top-ranked team in the country entering Week 6, but a field goal by Oklahoma as the clock ran out in the Red River Rivalry game gave the Longhorns their first loss of the season, 27-24. However, UT has won 12 straight games at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium — the fourth-longest active home winning streak in the FBS — dating back to 2014.
