Florida football is 4-0 for the first time since 2019 after defeating the Ole Miss Rebels in the Swamp on Saturday, 52-28. The Jon Sumrall era is off to a hot start and the Gator Nation is brimming with optimism with two conference wins already under their belt.
Following college football's Week 4 action, ESPN's Bill Connelly released his SP+ update, with the Orange and Blue landing at No. 12 overall with an 18.5 SP+ rating. That represents a three-spot boost from last week's ranking and a 0.7-point increase from the previous rating.
Looking deeper into the numbers, Florida's offensive SP+ of 38.8 lands at No. 9 in the nation, marking a 5.4-point and 11-spot improvement from the last update. Meanwhile, the defense checks in at No. 31 with a 20.8
rating — a 16-spot drop but a 3.9-point increase — and the special teams improved seven spots to No. 2 in the country while remaining at a 0.5 rating.
The Gators are joined by seven other SEC schools in the SP+ rankings' top 25 — down two from last week — headlined by second-ranked Georgia, followed by Alabama (No. 6), Texas (No. 7) and LSU (No. 10) among the top 10. The remaining top-25 representatives are Florida (No. 12), Tennessee (No. 14), Mississippi State (No. 18) and Missouri (No. 25).
