The Florida Gators won their first two games of the season for the first time since 2021 thanks to a 52-3 blowout of the Campbell Fighting Camels at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday night. The offense remained hot, the special teams were spectacular and the defense appears to be coming together after showing some rust in the opener.
Despite the overwhelming victory, Florida remains outside of the AP Top 25 rankings, holding on to its de facto No. 27 ranking with 83 votes — the same amount it had last week as well. That puts the Gators behind Washington's 172 votes and ahead of Boise State's 57.
Florida also sits outside of the US LBM Coaches Poll top 25 this week after slipping from 25th into the de facto 26th ranking.
Koki Riley of The Advocate
once again was the most bullish on the Orange and Blue this week, placing Florida at no. 14 on his ballot, while Mike Griffith of AJC.com placed UF at No. 15. Ralph Russo of The Athletic has the Gators at No. 16, followed by Bob Ballou of CBS Austin and Chris Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (No. 17), Joe Arruda of The Hartford Courant (No. 19), Garland Gillen of WVUE-TV FOX 8 (No. 21), and Ty Hildenbrandt of The Solid Verbal (No. 22).
The Gators also received votes at No. 24 from Andy Yamashita of The Seattle Times, Brian Fonseca of NJ Advance Media, Eric Hansen of The South Bend Tribune, Greg Luca of the San Antonio Express-News, Spencer Ripchik of The Dominion Post and Tom Murphy of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Andy Kendeigh of KETV-TV, Cameron Cox of KPNX-TV, Chris Murray of Nevada Sports Net and Kevin Carter of CBS Sports round out the ballot with votes for No. 25.
Next up, Florida hits the road to take on Auburn to open up the SEC schedule on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
