The Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs continue their century-old college football rivalry this weekend, where the two teams collide with playoff implications on the line.
Depending on who you ask, the all-time series either begins in 1904 (per UGA) or 1915 (per UF), but either way, the 'Dawgs hold a firm lead in one of the nation's oldest grudge matches by either a 13- or 14-win margin and have dominated the last decade of play, having won eight of the last 10 meetings.
Ahead of the Week 9 SEC showdown in Atlanta, where the matchup takes place this year as Jacksonville's EverBank Stadium gets a major facelift, USA TODAY Sports' college football experts weighed in with their respective predictions.
"(T)he 'World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party'
between No. 3 Georgia and No. 20 Florida is heading indoors," states article author Zac Al-Khateeb. "The annual rivalry between the Bulldogs and Gators is moving to Mercedes-Benz Stadium with Kirby Smart's team coming off a bye and a shocking loss to Auburn in Week 7."
The publication's panel of five experts — Craig Meyer, Austin Curtright, John Leuzzi, Jordan Mendoza and Adam Bittner — unanimously picked the Black and Red to prevail over the Orange and Blue by an average of 9.4 points.
"Florida and Jon Sumrall have a tough task ahead, not only against Georgia, but a Georgia team coming off an upset loss and a bye week," Curtright notes. "The Bulldogs are going to look like a different team against the Gators, and I'm expecting a big win."
The Florida-Georgia game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 31, and will be broadcast nationally on ABC.
