The 2026 college football season has seen two weeks of SEC action come and go, and the conference has already provided us with plenty of storylines.
While some teams have suffered pivotal losses that could impact their College Football Playoff hopes, others have picked up big-time wins that have strengthened their cases as contenders.
With conference play beginning to take shape, every result carries more weight as teams look to position themselves for a spot in the SEC's upper echelon group of teams and, ultimately, the College Football Playoff.
With two weeks of results now in the books, here's where all 16 SEC teams stand in our latest Gators Wire power rankings.
1. Texas Longhorns
- Record: 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 24-23 victory over Ohio State Buckeyes
- Up Next: UTSA Roadrunners
Texas are the new No. 1 team in our rankings following their comeback victory over
the nation's former No. 1, Ohio State. The Longhorns entered the fourth quarter down 23-3 and proceeded to score 21 unanswered points on the Buckeyes. Their fourth-quarter comeback was the second-largest fourth-quarter recovery in Texas history, only behind a comeback against Oklahoma State in 2007.
2. Georgia Bulldogs
- Record: 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 70-20 victory over Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
- Up Next: Arkansas Razorbacks
Georgia comes in at No. 2 in this week's power rankings. The Bulldogs did what they were supposed to against Western Kentucky, dominating them 70-20. Gunner Stockton hasn't missed a beat this season, and it continued to show in Saturday's victory, throwing for 234 yards and five touchdowns on an 81% completion percentage. The rushing attack and defense still look reminiscent of the Georgia teams that won titles in 2021 and 2022.
It won't be a surprise if they end up back at the No. 1 spot when the season is over, but for now they remain at No. 2.
3. LSU
- Record: 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 45-14 victory over Louisiana Tech Bulldogs
- Up Next: Ole Miss Rebels
LSU remains ranked at No. 3 after making the jump last week. Good thing they played Louisiana Tech, because three interceptions from Sam Leavitt are not ideal and won't cut it for them in conference play. Their next opponent will be an emotional roller coaster for Lane Kiffin as he returns to Oxford, Mississippi, to face his old team
4. Alabama Crimson Tide
- 2025 Record: 2-0 (1-0 SEC)
- Result: 45-17 victory over Kentucky Wildcats
- Up Next: Florida State Seminoles
Alabama makes the jump to the No. 4-ranked team in our power rankings. After a rough start against the Kentucky Wildcats, the Crimson Tide tightened their defense and didn't let Kentucky back into the end zone again. Their stout defense will keep them ahead in games, but it will be up to first-year quarterback Keelon Russell to finish games as they continue league play.
5. Texas A&M Aggies
- 2025 Record: 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 48-20 victory over Arizona State Sun Devils
- Up Next: Kentucky Wildcats
Texas A&M rises to No. 5 in our power rankings after taking care of business against Arizona State. The Aggies dominated the Sun Devils 48-20, showing that their offense can keep pace with a solid team in the Big 12 Conference. TAMU still has plenty to prove once SEC play begins, but Mike Elko's team has mostly looked the part through the first two weeks of the season.
The Aggies will begin SEC play next week when they take on Kentucky.
6. Ole Miss Rebels
- 2025 Record: 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
- Record: 41-9 victory over Charlotte 49ers
- Up Next: LSU Tigers
Ole Miss now comes in ranked No. 6 in our power rankings following their win against the Charlotte 49ers. The Rebels have shown plenty of offensive firepower through the first two weeks, but the real test comes this weekend. Ole Miss next host LSU in what should be one of the first true tests for Pete Golding's team. It also adds an interesting storyline with Lane Kiffin facing his former program.
7. Florida Gators
- 2025 Record: 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 52-3 victory over Campbell Fighting Camels
- Up Next: Auburn Tigers
Florida jumps one spot and is now ranked No. 7 in our power rankings. The Gators handled business against Campbell behind Vernell Brown III's hat trick of touchdowns, and their defense looked much improved compared to the showing in week one. The biggest test of the Jon Sumrall era now awaits them at Jordan-Hare Stadium, when they face off against Auburn on Saturday.
8. Missouri Tigers
- Record: 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 38-21 victory over Kansas Jayhawks
- Up Next: Troy Trojans
Missouri moves into the No. 8 spot after a strong showing against Kansas. The Tigers traveled to Lawrence and took care of business, defeating the Jayhawks 38-21 in a rivalry matchup. They haven't faced SEC competition yet, but they have looked like a team that could make some noise once conference play begins.
9. Oklahoma Sooners
- Record: 1-1 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 17-10 loss to Michigan Wolverines
- Up Next: New Mexico Lobos
Oklahoma drops all the way to No. 9 after being upset by unranked Michigan. The Sooners' offense struggled to find its rhythm in Ann Arbor, scoring just 10 points in a 17-10 loss to the Wolverines. This is a disappointing result for a team that entered the season with legitimate expectations, but one loss doesn't erase what this team is capable of.
They will have an opportunity to regroup against New Mexico before they begin SEC play.
10. South Carolina Gamecocks
- Record: 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 45-9 victory over Towson Tigers
- Up Next: Mississippi State Bulldogs
South Carolina remains at No. 10 after another dominant performance. The Gamecocks cruised past Towson 45-9, continuing their impressive start to the season while allowing just nine points for the second consecutive week. They will have a major test for them when they host Mississippi State this weekend in their SEC opener.
11. Tennessee Volunteers
- Record: 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 45-24 victory over Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
- Up Next: Kennesaw State Owls
Tennessee remains at No. 11 after defeating Georgia Tech 45-24 in Atlanta. The Volunteers were tested more than they were in Week 1, but they ultimately had enough firepower to pull away from the Yellow Jackets. They still have some things to clean up defensively, after starting the game a bit slow. The offense continues to show why this team could be a dangerous opponent once SEC play begins.
12. Mississippi State Bulldogs
- Record: 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 38-13 victory over Minnesota Golden Gophers
- Up Next: South Carolina Gamecocks
Mississippi State remains ranked at the No. 12 spot after an impressive win. The Bulldogs traveled to Minneapolis and dominated Minnesota 38-13, giving the Bulldogs a quality road victory against a Power Four opponent. MSU has now opened the season 2-0 and look to open SEC play against South Carolina. The Bulldogs have not opened conference play with a victory since 2020.
If they want to continue this impressive start to the season, they will need to prove they can win in a hostile SEC road environment.
13. Auburn Tigers
- Record: 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 43-8 victory over Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles
- Up Next: Florida Gators
Auburn enters Week 3 as the No. 13 team in our power rankings. The Tigers bounced back from their lackluster Week 1 performance against Baylor with a blowout win against an inferior opponent. Byrum Brown did a complete 180, throwing for 223 yards and two touchdowns while the run game was firing on all cylinders, totaling 343 yards, which was more than their last two opponents combined.
They will need to keep that consistency up and be able to score points to keep up with the Gator offense.
14. Kentucky Wildcats
- Record: 1-1 (0-1 SEC)
- Result: 45-17 loss to Alabama Crimson Tide
- Up Next: Texas A&M Aggies
Kentucky remains at No. 14 after suffering their first loss of the season against Alabama. The Wildcats kept things competitive early, but Alabama's defense eventually took over as the Crimson Tide pulled away for a 45-17 victory. They showed lots of promise early, but they will need to tie up the loose ends fast as they face Texas A&M on the road.
15. Vanderbilt Commodores
- Record: 2-0 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 35-26 victory over Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens
- Up Next: NC State Wolfpack
Despite starting the season 2-0, Vanderbilt remains ranked No. 15 after Delaware 35-26. The Commodores made the game much closer than expected against the FCS opponent; at one point, the Fightin' Blue Hens held a lead late into the second quarter before their offense stalled in the second half.
Vanderbilt has yet to show that they can compete with the teams ranked above them; however, a real opponent comes into FirstBank Stadium when they play NC State at home this weekend.
16. Arkansas Razorbacks
- Record: 1-1 (0-0 SEC)
- Result: 43-10 loss to Utah Utes
- Up Next: Georgia Bulldogs
Arkansas remain at the bottom of our rankings following their 33-point loss to the Utah Utes. The Razorbacks struggled to create consistent offense against the non-conference opponent, mostly due to their poor offensive line play. They still have major questions to answer on whether they can make games competitive in the SEC, and their previous performance does not help those concerns.
