Florida enters the week 3-0 after a 44-39 win over Auburn catapulted the Gators to No. 21 in the latest AP Top 25 poll. No. 4 Ole Miss is coming off a Week 2 victory over No. 10 LSU. Despite the ranking disparity, DraftKings had Florida as a 3.5-point favorite at the time of publishing.
While addressing the media, head coach Jon Sumrall seemed astonished that UF was favored by oddsmakers. “There's a lot of good drugs out there," the first-year head coach stated sarcastically. He went on to say, "I didn't even know the favored deal, but whoever is doing that, I don't know, they haven't watched the tape."
He went out of his way to praise Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, calling him the "best quarterback in college football." Should the Gators
prevail on Saturday, it will be their first 4-0 start since 2019. Sumrall's larger message was that Florida's early-season ranking means nothing if they don't continue improving.
"The same pats on the back you're getting, if you go out and lay an egg, you're going to get the same hands hitting you in the back; they're just going to have a knife in it. I told our guys, 'Ignore all that.' The goal is: how do we get to 1-0 each week? Well, if we don't do a lot of self-improvement, we have no shot this week."
Jadan Baugh enters the matchup with 458 rushing yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 8.5 yards per carry, while fellow 2025 Doak Walker Award finalist Kewan Lacy's status is uncertain after the junior suffered a shoulder injury against LSU.
