Florida football's initial SEC availability report for its homecoming game against the South Carolina Gamecocks was released on Wednesday, with four total players listed — two as questionable and two as probable.
Wide receiver Vernell Brown III and running back London Montgomery are the two Gators who are questionable for Saturday's SEC showdown, while safety Bryce Thornton and cornerback Dijon Johnson are probable.
Brown, Florida's second-leading receiver with 17 receptions for 271 yards and two touchdowns, suffered an injury in the win over Ole Miss and was absent during the loss to Missouri last week.
"(Brown) looks a lot better," Jon Sumrall said on Wednesday's SEC teleconference. "He did not fully participate in practice today. He did run
a little bit more yesterday, so we're cycling. He ran yesterday; today is more of a recovery day and the back end of this week, we'll give him a little bit of a run Thursday and Friday. Just saw him, though, probably 30 minutes ago before I hopped on this call. He seems really optimistic."

The word on Thornton, who suffered a lower-body soft-tissue injury during pre-game warmups last Saturday and missed the Missouri matchup, appears to be optimistic heading into the weekend.
"The good news is on the imaging, ultrasound, all the stuff they did in the athlete training room, nothing substantial," Sumrall said on Monday.
"So it's just more of how does he feel right now. I feel good about where it's at. It's not like something where I have news, like, 'He's out.' He's got a really good shot at being available; just depends on how he feels as he goes in the week."
As for South Carolina, the Gamecocks expect four players to miss this weekend's action: defensive back Jalewis Solomon, wide receiver Jayden Sellers, edge defender Kobby Sakyi-Prah and offensive lineman Josiah Thompson. Defensive back Quay'sheed Scott, edge defender Julian Walker and defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy are listed as questionable, while wide receiver Mazeo Bennett Jr. and offensive lineman Carter Miller are listed as questionable.
