The Carolina Panthers are bringing in former Florida Gators and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Kyle Trask for a workout, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Trask was a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and was released by the Bucs during the team's cuts following a contract extension. Since then, he spent some time with the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad last season.
At Florida, Trask played in 29 total games, throwing for a total of 7,386 and 69 touchdowns, while also rushing for eight more. Trask was prolific during his time in Gainesville, completing nearly 68% of his passes and posting a 168.5 passing efficiency rating for his career.
In 2020, Trask produced his best season, finishing fourth in Heisman voting, while throwing
for 356.9 yards per game on a 69% completion percentage.
Since making the NFL, Trask has been nothing more than a backup at the position, having zero starts under his belt. In the seven games he has seen the field, he has only completed 36% of his passes and passed for 28 yards, with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
The Panthers currently have Kenny Pickett and Haynes King at QB on their roster behind starting quarterback Bryce Young.
