Florida fell to the Sooners, 23-7, at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, marking its second straight loss and its fourth defeat in its last five games. The Gators struggled to establish any offensive consistency, as both the passing and rushing attacks failed to generate much momentum against Oklahoma's defense.
Despite the offensive struggles, quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. provided one of Florida's few bright spots.
Jones finished with 133 passing yards and 33 yards on the ground, for 166 total yards. His efforts earned him our Gators Wire offensive player of the game honor for Week 10.
The young quarterback faced consistent pressure throughout the contest but kept fighting, using his mobility to extend plays and create opportunities when the offense struggled
to move the chains. Although Florida failed to establish an offensive rhythm, Jones showed flashes of the dual-threat ability that makes him an intriguing option under center for the Gators moving forward.
His performance also stood out beyond the box score.
According to Pro Football Focus, Jones earned the highest offensive grade and rushing grade among all Florida players against Oklahoma.
While the growing pains have been evident, his ability to contribute through the air and on the ground provides Florida with another dimension offensively.
With three games remaining, the Gators will need Jones to keep developing and find ways to produce consistently as they look to secure bowl eligibility in Jon Sumrall's first season.
