The college football offseason enters its final month, and analysts are buying stock in which programs made the biggest adjustments to their roster. After a busy spring and summer, Florida earned a spot among those teams.
Athlon Sports recently named Florida as one of the country's 15 biggest offseason winners as the Gators look to trend upward in Jon Sumrall's first season at the helm.
Now the Gators aren't viewed as contenders for the CFP or the SEC championship game. However, the program did make many positive moves to positively impact the team.
The coaching staff that was assembled, including the hiring of Buster Faulkner and Brad White, was a step in the right direction by Sumrall.
Florida also attacked the portal, adding their potential starting
quarterback, Aaron Philo, as well as offensive lineman Harrison Moore from Georgia Tech. The Gators also added wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. from Auburn to pair with Dallas Wilson and Vernell Brown III on the outside.
One of the most important parts of changing coaches is keeping key contributors from the previous season, and the Gators did that with running back Jadan Baugh and edge rusher Jayden Woods — both of whom are on the preseason All-SEC team.
Entering 2026, Sumrall and the Gators will look to put the Gators back on the map as an upper-echelon program in the conference.
