Former Florida baseball slugger Wyatt Langford has been solid for the Texas Rangers — who selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft — over the course of his two-plus seasons in the major leagues. However, lately, he has picked up the pace and has been an absolute menace with the bat.
Langford began the 2026 season slowly, putting up a .214 batting average with just two home runs and five RBIs, along with an on-base percentage of .257, a slugging percentage of .350 for a .606 OPS and a wRC+ of 67 over his first 26 games. Since June 12, the Trenton, Florida, native has been on a tear, slashing .354/.402/.677 for a 1.079 OPS with nine home runs, 22 RBIs and an eye-popping 200 wRC+ stretching across his last 24 games.

While the Rangers are an even .500 at 51-51 as of Thursday, they hold the top spot in the American League West Division, and Langford has been part of the reason why they have remained in first place as July begins to wane.
The former Gator has dealt with some injuries this season, spending time on the injured list from April 22 to June 5 with forearm tightness as well as from June 28 to July 9 with a strained hamstring — the latter stretch bisecting his current hot streak. Nonetheless, he has clearly found his groove and has been pushing hard through the summer doldrums.
So far in 50 games played this summer, Langford has put up career highs in batting average (.282), slugging percentage (.510) and OPS (.839) along with a robust .329 on-base percentage, while his current wRC+ of 133 exceeds that of his two previous seasons' marks of 111 and 118, respectively. Still just 24 years old, the former Florida standout has some headroom for growth at the big-league level and appears to be trending in the right direction.
