The US LBM Coaches Poll following college football's Week 2 results was released on Sunday, with the Florida Gators slipping out of the top 25 despite a 52-3 shellacking of the Campbell Fighting Camels inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday night.
Last week, Jon Sumrall and Co. snuck into the top 25 and were tied with Virginia for the 25th spot in the rankings with 157 votes. This time around, UVA held onto that spot while UF slid to the de facto No. 26 ranking with 183 votes — 66 votes fewer than the Cavaliers and 23 more than Louisville. Florida began the season in the de facto No. 27 slot with 147 votes.
With the Gators' demotion, the SEC has one less team among the top 25 from last week. The nine member schools represented are headlined
by top-ranked Texas, followed by Georgia (No. 2), LSU (No. 7), Texas A&M (No. 8), Ole Miss (No. 9), Alabama (No. 10), Tennessee (No. 14), Oklahoma (No. 21) and Missouri (No. 22). Also receiving votes are Florida (183), South Carolina (23), Mississippi State (20), Vanderbilt (19) and Auburn (15).
Next up, Florida hits the road to take on Auburn to open up the SEC schedule on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
