Florida football failed to get back on the winning track on Saturday, swallowing a bitter pill in the form of a 23-7 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners in the Swamp. For the second straight week, the offense looked impotent while the defense left a lot to desire.
Following college football's Week 10 action, Bill Connelly released his SP+ update, with Florida falling to No. 47 in the overall rankings with a 5.9 rating after the loss to Oklahoma. That represents a three-spot drop from last week's standings and a 2.3-point decrease from the previous rating.
The Gators also dropped six spots in ESPN's Football Power Index this week to No. 28.
Looking deeper into the numbers, Florida's offensive SP+ slipped two points to 29.5 and is now ranked No. 50 in the nation,
marking a 17-spot drop from the last update. Meanwhile, the defense checks in at No. 52 with a 24.2 rating — a three-spot demotion and a 0.3-point decrease — while special teams slipped a spot to No. 3 in the country while adding 0.1 points for a 0.7 rating.
The SEC now has just five schools in the SP+ rankings' top 25 — down from seven over the previous four weeks — headlined by top-ranked Georgia, followed by Texas (No. 6), LSU (No. 7), Alabama (No. 8) and Tennessee (No. 10).
