The Minnesota Lynx shocked WNBA fans across the world by falling in the first round of the 2026 WNBA playoffs on Tuesday night in Brooklyn.
The Lynx became the first-ever WNBA No. 1 seed that lost in the opening round, with a 2-0 New York Liberty sweep keeping the WNBA title favorites from living up to that immense hype.
Now that the season is over, what's the next big question for the Lynx? What happens with superstar forward Napheesa Collier and her contract. She only signed a one-year deal with Minnesota in the offseason.
Collier is a free agent going into the 2027 WNBA offseason. She will very likely sign one of the biggest, if not the biggest, deal in WNBA history wherever she goes next. Will that deal be with Minnesota or somewhere else?
The team cannot core Collier going into 2027, which means she'll be free to sign wherever she wants. Whether that's with the Lynx or somebody else, her future will be the biggest storyline of the 2027 WNBA offseason.
It's very possible that Collier just played her last game with Minnesota. We're not sure what's next for one of the best WNBA players in the game, but yet another playoff series loss could inspire her to play elsewhere.
Where could she play next?
Basically, any team with the available cap space, which is basically everyone, would be interested in signing Collier.
