Of course Tarik Skubal was going to be emotional after the trade that sent him to the Los Angeles Dodgers (check out our trade grades of this one). The Detroit Tigers have been his Major League home since 2018, when the franchise took him in the ninth round of the 2018 MLB Draft.
He's pitched seven seasons with the big club and won two Cy Youngs, and it seemed like the Tigers were moving into contention last year. Sadly, it wasn't the same this season, and with Detroit not giving him a well-earned contract extension, the Tigers had to get something back before he headed into free agency.
As you'll see, he spoke to reporters early on Sunday morning and talked about the various emotions he was going through. Although he was excited to head to the Dodgers,
Skubal talked about the failure to bring a World Series to the organization.
Then, he spoke about his now-former teammates whom he's best friends with, and you could hear his voice waver. Then, he needed a moment to collect himself before moving on to talk about his excitement surrounding joining the Dodgers.

A reminder that trades don't happen in a vacuum. There are people involved who have a mix of emotions.
