The identity of Sadie Sink's character in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been kept under wraps for months. The Stranger Things actress has no character listed on any website or movie promotions, and she has been noticeably tight-lipped in cast interviews and press availabilities.
Fans have, of course, hypothesized who she might be playing. But we may have just gotten an accidental confirmation by way of a red carpet interview with musician Steve Lacy. Lacy, who has a song titled "oh yeah?" on the soundtrack for Brand New Day, was asked which character from the movie was his favorite.
“You know, what? Jean,” the singer replied. “I like Jean. She’s the villain but there’s a reason to her madness.”

The Jean he is referring to could be the X-Men's Jean Grey, one of the characters most rumored to be linked to Sink. In Lacy's defense, he didn't explicitly make the Jean Grey-Sadie Sink connection, but it certainly grabbed people's attention. He could also be teasing fans given that there's a character named Detective Jean DeWolff in the movie played by Liza Colon-Zayas. Hmmm.
Did Ryan Reynolds also spoil that Jean Grey was in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

He did wear a "Jean Grey" Deadpool uniform while at Comic-Con, soooo... maybe?
