When Reacher star Alan Ritchson and comedy icon Owen Wilson teamed up for the action-thriller Runner, the two entered with broadly different backgrounds (for the most part) in the entertainment landscape. However, where the two actors differed most was their physique, and that was an aspect that caught Wilson a bit off-guard when meeting Ritchson.
Wilson discussed the new movie Runner in a recent interview with The Playlist, and when asked what the first thing he discovered about Ritchson was, his response was pretty great.
"Well, I guess just seeing him. He’s a big guy, and that’s not me! And so you get a little bit of that," Wilson said of Ritchson.
Wilson continued by discussing the connection they shared, based on the fact that they both came
from families of three boys.
"Then, I guess, in talking to him, he’s from a family of three boys, which I am," Wilson added. "I’m the middle brother, and I do think sometimes when you meet people that grew up [that way], there’s sort of a shared “Lord of the Flies” kind of dialogue and experiences that you can touch on. From dealing with your brothers, you kind of learn how to navigate people’s ups and downs. And Alan’s character- he’s a little bit cranky from my perspective!"
Ritchson, who stands 6-foot-3 and is said to weigh in around 240 pounds, apparently lives up to the physique fans see in the hit show Reacher when meeting him in person. Regardless, it's not surprising that we've seen plenty of great movies that mix two people with primarily different acting backgrounds, as Wilson is a prominent name in comedy, while Ritchson quickly became a fan favorite for his no-nonsense approach in the popular Amazon Prime series.
Runner just hit theaters today and currently holds a 72% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
