Grab your prosthetic nose and scraggly wig. Chad Powers is back for a second season. The full season -- six episodes in total -- dropped on Hulu on September 3, and the Glen Powell-led comedy is better than ever. Based on a viral video
starring Eli Manning in 2022, Chad Powers tells the story of Holiday -- a great-but-toxic college quarterback -- that walked on at fictional South Georgia to get his second chance.The stakes have increased dramatically this time around. The second season of the football-centered comedy picks up right where season one left off: Coach Ricky (Perry Mattfeld) and Russ Holiday (Powell) squaring off on the team bus in a tense and charged exchange. With more people finding out Chad's secret and a disgruntled backup quarterback
getting closer to bringing the whole thing down, the heat has been turned up.
It would be easy to hear the premise and think it's too ridiculous to work. But it does, and it's something that Steve Zahn -- who plays head coach Jake Hudson -- is immensely proud of.
"This is unlike anything I've done to straddle the line of real, raw, and absolutely insane and and silly. I mean, that's what drew me to it," Zahn said in a recent interview with For The Win. "The premise is ridiculous, and yet within it... I think it's a brilliant show... partially because I think it's it's acted so well."
Chad Powers, co-created by Powell and Michael Waldron (Loki, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness), boasts an incredible cast that includes Frankie Rodriguez has his mascot confidant, Wynn Everett as the hyper-involved booster, Quentin Plair and Clayne Crawford as offensive coaches, Colton Ryan as the jealous backup QB and Toby Huss as Holiday's dad.
The second season fuses together comedy and sports action with a bit of a horror twist, and it is unlike anything else on television.
"In this season, it gets so microscopic that I think it makes it even more funny. You relax into it," Zahn explained.
