Gavin McKenna's debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs will take place later this year, but fans will be able to get their first look at him on the ice in the upcoming video game NHL 27.
The latest release in the long-running hockey video game series is set to go live to the public on September 11, in just a few short weeks. While the upcoming NHL season won't begin until later in the month, we're now at the part of the hockey offseason where fans begin to clamor for any sort of news.

On Monday, ahead of NHL 27's release, EA Sports caught up with McKenna, the No. 1 overall pick from the latest draft after the Maple Leafs won the draft lottery in the spring. In the short video,
McKenna was shown his NHL 27 rookie rating (an 81!) and cracked a joke about how he hopes it will skyrocket by season's end due to his on-ice performance.

Maple Leafs fans surely cannot wait much longer to see McKenna on the ice in a regular season game. Only about a month to go!
