The Milwaukee Brewers made the World Series off the strength of their pitching, and one key arm could be reentering the mix. Brandon Woodruff, a two-time All-Star right-hander, has a "50/50" shot to make Milwaukee's World Series roster, according to MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.
Injuries have hampered Woodruff's promising career. He started only 11 games in 2023 after suffering a major anterior shoulder capsule injury, then missed the entire 2024 season while recovering. Things didn't get much better in 2025, as Woodruff pitched only 65.2 innings because of continued shoulder problems as well as a right lat issue.
It's unclear whether Woodruff would start or come out the bullpen if he makes the World Series roster. Cy Young favorite Jacob Misiorowski
is slated to start Game 1 against Tampa Bay Rays righty Nick Martinez tonight.
What happened to Brandon Woodruff?
Right shoulder inflammation and an anterior shoulder capsule issue have limited Woodruff to 45.1 innings pitched this season. His first injured list stint came from May 1 to June 22, and after a brief return the Brewers transferred him to the 60-day IL on July 11.
When is Brandon Woodruff coming back?
We'll know when the Brewers release their World Series roster today. It's possible Woodruff will have to wait until 2027 to pitch again.
