This season's NFC East could not be more winnable. The Philadelphia Eagles are already in tatters without Jalen Hurts for the rest of the season. The Washington Commanders have to dig out of a 1-4-1 just to reach .500. And even amid eye-opening glimpses of promise
, the New York Giants are starting reclamation project J.J. McCarthy at quarterback. On paper, this should be a division that the talented Dallas Cowboys run away with. Full stop.Instead, the NFL's funniest team can't stop stepping on rakes. It's genuinely comical.
On Sunday, the latest rake came in the form of the rebuilding Arizona Cardinals. Mike LaFleur's team managed to upend the Cowboys on the road in a 33-30 overtime win that saw Arizona start journeyman Gardner Minshew II, who
threw a touchdown pass that forced the extra period in the final seconds. The biggest disparity was evident in supposed franchise player Dak Prescott failing to throw for at least 200 yards while the Cardinals' patchwork offense amassed nearly 500 yards of offense in the big upset win.
Everyone knows the Cowboys' defense is awful. When even the high-powered offense can't pull its weight, this Dallas team is in trouble.
Owner Jerry Jones has clearly seen enough. In the postgame, Jones lambasted Dallas's entire operation, saying this latest defeat is an "indictment" of the Cowboys to their core. He's not wrong, folks. He's not wrong.
Jerry Jones on the loss to Arizona: “It’s an indictment of the whole show.” He included himself, coaches and players.

The worst part for Dallas is that Jones' Cowboys are no stranger to embarrassing losses in recent years. Even if this season ends up going down the drain in a way that results in change, it's hard to imagine that said change would do anything meaningful in a positive way for the Cowboys any time soon.
