A dazzling start to the 2026 season for the Chicago Bears was caught in a storm on Sunday. After scoring 59 points in Week 1, Ben Johnson's Bears offense struggled to generate enough consistent rhythm to really challenge the Minnesota Vikings during a Chicago rainstorm. But the outcome of Bears-Vikings might not be the most consequential sequence of the game.
With the Bears driving in the red zone halfway through the fourth quarter, quarterback Caleb Williams pulled up lame without getting touched on a scramble attempt. Williams was clearly in a lot of visible pain; he couldn't put weight on his injured leg, and he would eventually have to leave and be carted off.
Here's hoping for the best for the Bears and their fans because Williams' injury
just about looked as awful as possible at face value without any further context:

For what it's worth, Williams did give the Bears' home crowd a thumbs-up on his way out, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything outside of a player keeping up the spirit in a tough moment. It's a still nice sign, though.
