The Philadelphia Eagles continued their Week 1 win streak on Sunday, besting the Washington Commanders 24-22 to open the 2026 season. It was a closer game than many expected it to be, in part because of some struggles on offense that gave Eagles fans a bit of anxiety after the way last season went.
Some growing pains were to be expected with new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion at the helm alongside the loss of star wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots. However, their biggest issue coming out of Sunday's game was a poor performance from the Eagles' offensive line, especially with regard to three time Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson's play.
Dickerson did not have a great game and to many fans' eyes, looked to be less than 100
percent during his time out on the field. Fans' suspicions were confirmed on Monday afternoon when it was announced that Dickerson was being placed on IR and will miss at least the next four games for the Eagles.
We didn't have to wait too much longer to hear from Dickerson himself, as the guard did a radio hit with local Philadelphia station WIP-FM shortly after the news broke. Dickerson was brutally honest about his performance in Week 1, saying that he was "a complete liability" and had been dealing with a nagging training camp injury, which is what ultimately landed him on IR.

Props to Dickerson for owning up to his poor Week 1 performance and hopefully Eagles fans will see him out there on the field later this season once he's healthy.
