This week is one of the more important weeks of the Chicago Bears' 2026 regular season. They are playing the rival Green Bay Packers on Sunday, a matchup that head coach Ben Johnson clearly loves lathering up his players for. But as the Bears prepare for this pivotal NFC North rivalry game, they're clearly still feeling the aftereffects of a dominant and unique victory over the New York Jets last Sunday
.You see, All-Pro tackle Darnell Wright, All-Pro guard Joe Thuney, and standout guard Jonah Jackson have, for the most part, sat out a full week of practice at the time of this writing. In fact, by the time Thursday's practice rolled around, they were all listed as "limited" participants, at best. This isn't really a big deal to Chicago. No major
Bears reporter has noted any significant injury to the Bears' three best offensive linemen that would preclude their health or effectiveness on the field. Plus, Wright, Thuney, and Jackson are all experienced veterans enough at this point to take it easier during the week so they can be fresher for the inherent punishment presented by an NFL Sunday.
The obvious implication is that Wright, Thuney, and Jackson have all received extended veteran rest because they pummeled the Jets with almost 90 offensive snaps (54 of which were designed running plays). For context, the average offensive line faces about 60 snaps per game. Given how physical and taxing pro football can be on the human body, it's easy to understand how much of a toll 30 more snaps might take on 300-plus-pound men getting hit every single play.

That's right. The core of the Bears' offensive line is getting extra days of rest because it was so dominant in its most recent game. This is where we are with Ben Johnson's team. These Bears will make a concerted effort to bury you on game day, then take a little more time to recharge before their next hopeful beatdown as a unit. What a time to be alive.
