The NHL is expanding its offerings on Prime Video this upcoming season, as six teams will stream their local in-market games on the service for the 2026-27 season.
The league announced the news on Wednesday morning, revealing that the defending Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes alongside the Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues will have their games streaming on Prime Video for fans within their coverage regions. The news comes after the end of FanDuel Sports Network and Victory+ streaming services, which would have left those clubs without a streaming home for the coming season.
While local cable options have still yet to be announced, fans in these markets at the very least know where
they'll be able to stream games for the upcoming season. However, there is a catch certain markets will have to be aware of with this new deal.
In the fine print of the NHL's announcement, the league stated that the clubs themselves will "announce specific details of the streaming packages and subscription options in their respective territory", meaning it's up to the teams to decide how much their local markets will pay for Prime Video's coverage of their teams. According to Michael Russo of The Athletic, fans of the Wild don't need to be Prime members to watch games, as an Amazon account is required. But if you are a Prime member you'll still have to pay extra for the service, which is $19.99 per month or $99.99 per season.

However, the Stars announced the Prime Video deal differently, stating that "no additional subscription" is required, meaning Prime members will get to stream games with no additional charge.

Beginning this season, Prime Video will stream all regional Stars games for in-market fans, with no additional subscription required.
According to the team's various posts on social media, it seems as if the Stars and Ducks will require no additional subscription to watch locally broadcasted streams on Prime Video. Fans of the Wild, Blue Jackets and Blues will have to pay $19.99 per month or $99.99 per year, as Russo reported. And Hurricanes fans will also have to pay that same number, though you don't have to pay for Prime, just the newly announced Hurricanes Hockey Network on Prime Video.
While it's a nice break for Ducks and Stars fans, it is a bit unfortunate for the Blue Jackets, Hurricanes, Blues and Wild to require another subscription. Hopefully this rollout goes smoothly once the NHL season officially kicks off in late September.
