Following Wednesday's NFL season kickoff between the Patriots and Seahawks, the action continues tonight as the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams clash in Melbourne, Australia. Both playoff teams a year ago, these NFC West rivals play enough for us to know there will be fireworks -- and maybe even a nail-biting finish.
Between their two games in 2025 -- which they split -- these teams combined to score 15 offensive touchdowns. And that was with Mac Jones starting both games for the Niners. So you can almost throw a dart at the anytime TD scorer board and land on someone who has a chance to reach the end zone. But for the best combination of probability and value, the below players are my favorite picks to score a touchdown.
Puka Nacua (+125)
I'm shocked
we're getting plus odds on Nacua, though I guess that's simply the nature of being a wide receiver. But not only do I feel great about his chances to score after he reached the end zone in each game against this weak San Francisco secondary last season, I think Davante Adams (+115) probably gets in too.
Kyren Williams (-135)
I'm confident a Rams running back will score in this game. I'm just not 100 percent sure it won't be Blake Corum (+155), who received an almost even split of carries as Williams in a lot of the games towards the end of 2025. But Williams is still the 1A of this backfield and put up four scores on San Francisco in 2025, so I'll roll the dice with him over Corum and Christian McCaffrey (-150), who has the shortest odds to score in this game.
Jake Tonges (+700)
Maybe this me overthinking things, but George Kittle's return from a January Achilles tear has come awfully fast. It's hard to imagine him taking his normal snap count under those circumstances, which should leave room for Tonges to get some looks. Tight ends did well against LA's defense in 2025, including in this series, where Kittle (+280), Tonges and Luke Farrell (+1400) all scored on the Rams.
