A guide for Jackson Hole Ecotour Adventures on Monday shared dramatic footage involving hundreds of bison in a massive stampede in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park.
"Maybe the most awe-inspiring event I have ever seen!" Billy Fabian exclaimed via Instagram. "I still have chills."

The footage, posted below, reveals an impressive display of hulking mass transit, involving shaggy beasts that can weigh as much as 2,000 pounds and run 35 mph.

The bison are shown sweeping across a prairie, then crowding a fence line before plowing through and over the fence to reach another section of prairie. (A different post about the same stampede shows wire in the fencing.)
The footage
is set to music from "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" and would resemble a scene from the Old West were it not for the paved highway and dozens of parked vehicles, and spectators in colorful clothing.
It was not clear what set the bison into motion, but such events can be triggered by perceived threats or disturbances that create momentary panic within a herd.
