The Seattle Mariners have fallen well short of expectations this season after their 2025 American League Championship Series run. Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers marked a new low, however.
Milwaukee throttled Seattle 22-0 for its worst loss in franchise history. It also tied for the most lopsided shutout victory in MLB's modern era.
The barrage started in the fifth inning with Seattle only down one run. Right-handed starter Bryce Miller gave up five runs in the frame before the Mariners turned to the bullpen, when things got much, much worse. Seattle coughed up another five runs in the sixth, two in the seventh and nine in the eighth.
Julio Rodriguez inadvertently helped Milwaukee get its 21st run with a truly horrendous error. With
one out and infielder Leo Rivas on the mound, the star outfielder caught a routine fly ball from Christian Yelich to get Seattle closer to a merciful end to the game.
The only problem is Rodriguez proceeded to throw the ball into the stands thinking it was the final out of the inning. It's a mistake you can only see to believe.

The Mariners have a chance at redemption tonight with righty Logan Gilbert starting against Milwaukee. They can only go up from last night.
