The Paul George era in Boston is officially set to get underway. After the trade that sent Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers, it'll be George in a Boston Celtics uniform this coming season, which seemed immensely unlikely following the 2025-26 season.
After officially arriving in Boston, George stepped off the plane and sent an immediate message to the Celtics fans and their front office. The initial statement was brief but to the point, from George, who expressed his excitement about being in Boston.
"I'm feeling great, man. I'm excited. [My] family's excited. I'm gonna give y'all everything," George said.
He also spoke in more detail later while discussing the move to his new team, and after he was seen chatting with Brad Stevens inside
what appears to be the team facilities.
"It’s surreal. I’m ecstatic," George said. "I’m looking forward to the journey. I’m looking forward to wearing that green and representing for Boston."
The Celtics' trade for George drew mixed reactions, with most shocked that the team had traded one of its own stars, Jaylen Brown, to the rival 76ers. Especially given that the Sixers were fresh off a stunning comeback playoff victory that sent the Celtics home in the first round after initially holding a 3-1 series lead.
Regardless, the deal is in the rearview mirror, but it'll take center stage again early in the 2026-27 season. The Celtics travel to Philly to face the Sixers on Tuesday, November 10, setting up the first meeting with George and Brown against their former teams.
