It's almost an annual tradition at this point: A big-name athlete expresses doubts or skepticism about the Apollo moon landings, and the headlines get made and so on.
It's happened again in 2026. New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was on WEEI this week and had this to say: "I don't know about the moon... I'm not really sure 200 percent if we went there or not. I wouldn't say I'm leaning one way or the other. I just know I'm a little bit skeptical.”
He's certainly not the first to say that. In fact, one of his teammates once said it while with another team, and other pros have joined in the chorus of conspiracy theorists. Let's review them:
A.J. Brown
As he wrote on social media years ago: "We got cars driving themselves but we can't go back to the moon...
took me about 20 years to understand they been lying to us our entire lives."
Dallas Goedert
He expressed his doubts in 2023: "I don't think the live version that people saw on TV was them on the moon, I think that was created on Earth."
William Hayes
The former Rams defensive end known for being skeptical about dinousaurs also had his doubts about the moon landing.
