TreVeyon Henderson is one of the most intriguing pieces of the New England Patriots' roster. The tailback showcased rare explosion as a rookie, helping push the Patriots to their first Super Bowl since Tom Brady's departure.
His four touchdown runs of 50-plus yards led the NFL -- the first time a rookie had done so since Saquon Barkley in 2018. 18 of his 35 catches sprang for 10-plus yards even though his average target distance was behind the line of scrimmage. Despite struggling in pass protection, he was given more carries per game than veteran Rhamondre Stevenson out of the New England backfield.
But we won't see Henderson when the Patriots kick off their 2026 regular season. He'll miss Week 1's Super Bowl rematch with the Seattle Seahawks
due to an ankle injury.
When is TreVeyon Henderson expected to return for the Patriots?
Henderson has not been placed on injured reserve after sustaining the injury in an August 24 practice. He did not practice in the week leading up to the season opener, but could return in Week 2 -- where New England will have 10 full days to prep for their showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers in Foxborough. His status remains fluid and his injury is not considered to be serious.
