Spider-Man is back on the big screen for the first time in five years with Spider-Man: Brand New Day releasing in theaters on Friday. The new movie, directed by Shang-Chi's Destin Daniel Cretton, follows Peter Parker (Tom Holland) as he navigates a world that forgot him
. Peter leans into his role as Spider-Man, trapping himself into a life that is lonely and starting to wear on him both physically and emotionally.Spider-Man has to take on a new foe (played by Sadie Sink) as he tries to decipher her motivations and figure out that everything might not be as it seems. MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon) return, and Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) joins the fray.
Yes, there is a post-credit scene, and it is really quite simple while also setting up
some potential Spider-man plot lines for this December's Avengers: Doomsday.
In the scene, we get another look at Ned's Spidey Tracker app, with his voice stating, "New Spider-Man sighting, location unknown." As it continues to pan out, off of Earth, we get a Spider-Man logo somewhere in outer space. We are told "Spider-Man will return," but there is no amplifying information as to when or which upcoming project. Could this new sighting be another universe's Spidey (like the return of Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield), or has he made another trip into space?
Only time will tell.
